FAST Pichl & ÖKOTEAM

FAST Pichl and ÖKOTEAM studied biodiversity in Austrian tree canopies. We followed the fieldwork with cameras and a drone and documented the rope access, sampling and species identification.

The film documentation makes research visible that takes place high in the tree canopy.

Our contribution

Starting point

The study looked at which animals live in Austrian tree canopies and how forestry affects these habitats. The team needed a film record of the fieldwork for research, teaching and public outreach.

Work

We followed the field team with cameras and a drone and filmed the climb, sampling and species identification.

Result

The film is used in talks, teaching and public outreach and shows how tree-canopy research is carried out.
