FAST Pichl and ÖKOTEAM studied the diversity of species in Austrian tree canopies. We followed the fieldwork with camera and drone and documented rope techniques, sampling and species identification.

The project in three steps.
Where the project stood, what we built and what came out of it.
Starting point
The study looks at which animals live in native tree canopies and how forestry work affects these habitats. The fieldwork was to be documented on film for research, teaching and public outreach.
What we did
We followed the team during the outdoor work with camera and drone and filmed the climb, the sampling and the identification of species.
Result
The film is used in talks, teaching and public outreach and shows the methods of tree canopy research.
